Funding Scheme on Assistive Technologies for Persons with Disabilities
In January 2011, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) launched the Development of Assistive Technology for Persons with Disabilities Fund to support the development of ICT-based assistive tools and applications for persons with disabilities. The nine selected projects range from software development and upgrade, design of input and control assistance device, smartphone application, web-based service to rehabilitation tools, which cater for persons with different kinds of disabilities such as the visually impaired and those with difficulties in body movement.
The funded projects have commenced development work since April 2011. All of them would be completed by mid-2012. The products would be available for free download, distribution to needy groups or further development with a proven concept. The “Exhibition on Projects of the Development of Assistive Technology for Persons with Disabilities Fund” will be arranged for 11-14 May 2012 at Hong Kong Central Library to showcase the products.
Admission is free and general public is welcome to visit the exhibition.
